A.	farther는 far의 비교급으로 물리적인 거리를 나타내는 더 멀리 라는 의미로 사용된다.
1.	The library is farther away than the school.
2.	I can swim farther than you can.
3.	My home is farther from school than yours.
4.	He moved farther away from the table and stood up.
5.	I can't walk any farther.
6.	Three miles is farther than two.
7.	We walked farther than we meant to and were very tired by the time we got home.

B.	further도 far의 비교급으로 더 나아가서 또는 더(이상)를 의미하는 것으로 사용된다.
1.	Let's not discuss it further.
2.	I'll study it further.
3.	I have something further to say to you.
4.	I don't wish to discuss this any further.
5.	We consider the matter further.
6.	Inquire further into the matter.
7.	We can discuss the plan further tomorrow.

C.	further가 명사 앞에서 형용사로 사용되면 그 이상의, 그 이후의, 더 나아가서를 의미한다.
1.	I have no further news
2.	Further meetings seem pointless.
3.	Does anyone have any further comments?
4.	Do you need further help?
5.	Have you received any further news about the accident?
6.	After further consideration, he rejected the plan.

	further는 farther 대신 물리적인 거리를 나타내는 데에 사용될 수 있지만 farther 는 추상적인 의미를 나타내기 위하여 further 대신 사용될 수 없다.
	1. I can't walk any further. (o)
	2. I'll study it farther. (x)
	그러나 farther은 물리적인 거리를, further는 이 외의 추상적인 개념을 의미하는 것으로 사용하는 것이 좋다.
