A.	maybe는 어쩌면, 아마라는 의미로 구어에서 사용되며 형식적인 글에서는 사용되지 않는다.
1.	Maybe you left your sweater in the car.
2.	Do you think she'll call? Maybe.

B.	perhaps는 아마, 혹시, 어쩌면, 형편에 따라서는 이라는 의미이며 형식적인 글에서 사용된다.
1.	Perhaps I'll see him at the party.
2.	Do you think I should buy this? Perhaps not.
3.	Perhaps I'll go to the movies tonight; I'm not sure yet.

C.	possibly는 어쩌면, 혹은, 아마 라는 의미로 maybe와 유사한 의미로 사용된다.
1.	Are you going to Sam's party? Possibly---I might have to work.
2.	Can you come? Possibly, but I'm not sure.
3.	The package should arrive next week, possibly sooner.

D.	probably는 필시, 대개는 이라는 의미로 확률이 높은 경우에 사용된다.
1.	I invited her to the party but she probably won't come.
2.	Do you think it'll rain today? Probably.
3.	This is probably the best vacation they've ever had.
4.	He was probably drunk and that caused him to drive off the road.

	probably는 be동사 뒤에서 사용되며 그 앞에서는 사용될 수 없다.
